There’s a season in life when when it seems obvious to take photos with your children. When they’re little, they seem to change so quickly, it feels like you need to document their growth. But as kids get older, it feels less urgent. And let’s face it, life with older kids is BUSY! Between sport, music lessons, part-time jobs and school, it feels like there’s never enough time.
I’m here to tell you, as a Toowoomba family photographer, that there’s no perfect time for your family photo session. We’re all busy, and there’s always things that come up. But maybe it’s time to just schedule a photo session into the calendar, and work life around it.
Here’s some reasons why family photos with older kids matter:
1.It’s a moment in time

Even though they’re not changing as fast as they were when they’re little, older kids are still growing into their bodies. It’s a perfect opportunity to remember what they were like at that moment in their lives.
2.It’s a chance to celebrate changing family dynamics

As kids get older, their personalities emerge more, and it’s wonderful to see how this is reflected within your family.
3.Boosting their self-esteem

It’s been shown that having photos of your children displayed in your home can boost their self-esteem. That’s a perfect reason in itself!
4.Get in the frame too!

Many parents take photos of their kids on their phones, but rarely get in the frame with them. Having someone else take the photo makes sure everyone is included.
5.It’s providing a legacy

Having photos of your family together (especially printed photos), is something your children will treasure for many years to come, and hopefully share with their children.

If it’s time for you to have a family photo session with your older kids, let’s book it into your schedule! Email me for dates, and find out more about sessions here.
