Looking for ways to keep the kids busy in the September 2026 school holidays? I’ve collated a list of school holidays activities in Toowoomba to keep them entertained (and out of your hair!!). Some are free, and some are paid, but I think there’s something here for everyone!
Carnival in the Bush
On Sunday 20th September 2026 at JE Duggan Park in Leslie St, the Friends of the Escarpment are having a day full of bushwalks and nature activities, including a bush cafe! For more information, click here.
E.P.I.K.
What is E.P.I.K.? E = Engaging P = Programs that I = Inspire K = Kids
A fun-filled mix of tennis, chess, games and science experiments. Their purpose is to keep your kids engaged and excited about their school holidays! Find out more here.
Playful By Nature

Clifford Gardens In-Bloom

THRIVE Festival
In 2026 the annual THRIVE Festival launches into space with an out-of-this-world program in a four-day celebration of creativity, imagination and play for children aged 0–12 and their families. Carnival of Trains
All aboard for a spectacular display of model railways! Featuring operating layouts across a range of scales — from Z all the way to On30 — this exhibition brings trains from different countries and eras to life, complete with bells, whistles and lights. Marvel at everything from historic steam locomotives to modern diesel models, and explore a comprehensive model railway museum at your own pace. All the information you need is here.
Explore Boyce Gardens

Queens Park Family Fun Fair
From 18th-27th September, Queens Park comes alive with rides, games, food, showbags, entertainment and fireworks! All the details here.
Toowoomba Region Libraries
The libraries in the Toowoomba Region once again have a variety of workshops, including Ant Detectives, Treasure Island and Sing and Play. Book in here.
Spring at the Museum
Cobb and Co Museum celebrates Carnival time with Spring at the Museum, with plenty of activities, including build a bee hotel, terrarium workshop, or come and view their Hanging Basket competition. More details here.
Milly and Rose’s Little Creatives
Milly and Rose are offering a creative workshop for children aged 3-7 on 22nd September. More info and bookings here.
Holiday Sewing Club
Holiday Sewing Club is back this September school holiday! Young creatives (8-17yrs) can join in in the studio for some crafting fun, sewing to their heart’s content whilst making new friends! Running between Monday 28 September and Friday 02 October from 1pm-4pm each day, you can join for the whole week or pop in on the days it suits you. Bookings essential here.
Playful Adventures
